The Exospine

The Integrated Support Exospine (ISE) offers a weapons-grade quality device for reducing pain and injury that is suitable for soldiers of every size. Developed in response to repetitive strain injuries caused by weight carried on the shoulders and back, the Exospine reduces discomfort and increases performance by transferring the load to the pelvis and legs. The ISE is designed to work with current military equipment, and can be fitted and adjusted by a single soldier within minutes, without the need for additional tools for operation.

The Design

The Exospine is composed of a yoke–belt system that is the first to offer a full range of motion for the back and pelvis. This system allows the soldier to move naturally while carrying a combat load when walking, running or engaging with equipment. The yoke is designed to protect the shoulder girdle and the rotator cuff by using a hand-laid carbon fiber that properly carries the weight.  Belts are right and left neutral to allow for an ease of operation, and are fitted with a hitchless cotter pin in the pelvis assembly for easy operation and maintenance.

Versatility

The yokes and belts of the Exospine are fully interchangeable, meeting the physical needs of each individual soldier, while reducing the range of sizes needed for the inventory. Each piece comes in small, medium, large and extra large sizes, designed to accommodate any soldier in the field. In addition, each ISE is designed for custom adjustments, which give the perfect fit, maintaining the strength and integrity of the yoke and allowing the soldier to “set it and forget it” while in use.
